Today, Telnic announced the date for the upcoming launch of .tel Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) in sixteen languages will be Tuesday, 15th June 2010 at 3pm BST. So if you have customers that are called Jörn, Júlia or Bjørn, or a Chlöe, ? or B?a?ej, or businesses that use native scripts brand names, they will be able to register their own .tel name in their own language from Tuesday, 15th June 2010.

It has been reported that initially, Telnic will be making available IDNs in Chinese, Danish, Finnish, German, Hungarian, Icelandic, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish. Further languages may be added in future dependent on community feedback and availability of language tables. Registrations will start at 3p.m. BST on Tuesday, 15th June 2010 and all registrations will be on a first-come, first served basis with no reserve period for trademark owners, making it VERY important for corporations to get ready for the 15th!

Pricing will be in line with regular .tel domains in every way.

If you wish to receive further information on this launch, or to confirm your wish to participate, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . They will soon upload further information regarding IDNs to their main website as well as the Registrar section, including a Registrar Quick Start guide, FAQ’s, policy documentation and a list of reserved names required by ICANN.
